Country music fans the world over, are now saying a deeply heart-felt goodbye to the one and only…..George Jones.  And while they may not realize it…they’re exercising a deeply-felt emotion in futility…for “George Jones” will never die…and as time takes the human race ever closer to eternity,”  George (the Possum) Jones” will  live beyond forever in the souls of all who have been touched by his music!!!    Sincerely,   Ira Allen

Hello Ira, I am a music historian from the Pacific Northwest and would like to interview you about your career. I have interviewed many oldtime players from these parts including Buck Owens and Bonnie Guitar, and have published many essays on related topics. I think an essay about you would be fascinating. Can we talk by phone or correspond via email?

    Hi Judy
thoroughly enjoyed our phone conversation the other day. i have a couple of pictures of way back in the early 1900s’ of Ira’s grandmother Eva, my mother Dorris and Eva’s sister. who i was told, died of the big flu of the 1920’s. My mother was apparently the oldest of the three. the other picture is of Ira’s “Grandpa Jack”,s brother Rust with my oldest brother Rusty, who was named for my grandfather. This photo was taken in the early 1930’s when my brother was about 2 probably. my grandfather was always so proud of Rusty!
Give my your e-mail and it will be easier for me to get in touch with you.
When i get copies of these pics i’ll send them to you—oops! i’ll need your address too.
    Harriet
